They are building a global community to revive the ceremonial value and usage of cacao. Their products feature the golden cacao genotype known as ‘chuncho’ from Cusco, which thrives under the highlands of Machu Picchu and is considered the ancestral source of all cacao. Kaukawa offers unique ceremonial cacao paste and essential oil and conducts cultural cacao ceremonies worldwide
- Who is Kaukawa? Kaukawa is the name of the spirit of Cacao from Cusco, embodied by a woman figure. The spirit of this plant was revealed to Fiorella, the founder of this project, on her visits to the jungle of Quillabamba, the place of the moon in the indigenous language, which is where this cacao variety grows since hundreds of years ago as a native genotype. This experience was a wake-up call in which she felt it was her sense of duty to make those sacred visions tangible into a reality.
- What is Ceremonial Cacao? Ceremonial cacao is celebrated for its ability to foster relaxation, awaken joy, and deepen connections with the heart. It is designed for use in special rituals, ceremonies, and offerings. Kaukawa’s dedication to preserving the integrity of cacao includes:
- Crafting the paste from original cacao genotypes.
- Sourcing high-quality cacao beans.
- Approaching cacao paste production with a focus on energy. Cacao is revered as a sacred plant, introducing a profoundly different vibration from that of mainstream chocolate. Kaukawa’s ceremonial cacao invites participants on a journey of deep heart connection, enriched by the vibrant Peruvian energy and the unique wisdom of the Andean and Amazonian cultures.
- What is the connection of Kaukawa with the Q’ero Nation?
- Kaukawa honors the ancient traditions and wisdom of the Q’ero Nation, a venerable community in the high Andes of Cusco. Their ceremonial cacao is blessed by an elder priest from this community, ensuring the continuation of their spiritual and cultural practices. Central to the Q’ero beliefs is the reverence for Pachamama, or Mother Earth, who embodies love, nurturing, and fertility. Kaukawa is dedicated to enhancing the visibility of the Q’ero culture, whose profound insights into spiritual healing and inner connection are invaluable to the evolution of humanity.
